WHAT IS RURAL FIBRE?
Fibre is a type of internet connection that uses fiber-optic cables to transmit data. This technology represents a significant advancement over traditional copper-based connections like DSL or cable, offering higher speeds, greater bandwidth, and more reliable service over longer distances.
Why Eureka?
Lightwire has been delivering wireless internet into Eureka for almost 20 years, and want to continue to invest in the area, bringing city speeds to your home via fibre technology.
Lightwire wants to build the network privately, and provide you the service at the end of the build so you’ll be dealing with us from start to finish. The fibre install (valued at $2000) is free for residents within the first stage boundary too.
How can I get fibre in Eureka?
In order for Lightwire to go through with this fibre build, it needs to get the community together and sign up at least 42 homes detailed in the first stage plans. You can view the plan below. Houses within this boundary will be given a letter and a follow up.
What if I'm not within the boundary map? (illustrated below)
If you are not within this boundary, but still want fibre, please reach out to us by calling 0800 12 13 14 and we can see what options we have. Remember, even if your home isn’t in the first stage of the build, your property may be considered for a stage 2 build in the future. It’s important to get you community behind this to future proof your own home!

Lightwire has seen the need for better communications in Eureka and has decided to invest in the community.
While the Rural Fibre can provide high speeds to a property, the internal network is a different area. Wi-Fi signals can be degraded as they pass through walls. We offer a Whole Home Wi-Fi to resolve this problem.
As above, the internal network of a property is different to the supply network. If a shed or other structure is separate from the main dwelling, it’s unlikely a network extender can help here.
