Lightwire keeps Beaurepaires rolling with a Managed Wide Area Network

When new owners took over Beaurepaires New Zealand, they set a goal of achieving an innovative internet platform that would allow for improved customer service. Lightwire worked against the clock to achieve this with a Managed Wide Area Network for the nation-wide tyre retailer.

The background

Beaurepaires is a New Zealand-owned and operated supplier of tyres. With more than 60 stores nationwide, communication between staff is important. When the new owners took over, a priority was to increase customer service and retention, and improve efficiency through better use of technology.

The problem

As a New Zealand-wide retailer of tyres, wheels, batteries and wheel alignment servicing, a fast, reliable network link between stores is essential for Beaurepaires. However, the existing network underperformed and was expensive to run.

The solution

Lightwire initially used standard copper broadband connections, and started a programme of rolling out fibre to the stores, increasing performance and reliability.

Sean Williams, Head of Service at Lightwire, says the solution proved challenging but successful. “Under very tight timeframes, we delivered a Managed IP WAN across a retail network of 52 stores in less than 30 days, substantially increasing network performance and simultaneously reducing monthly costs. Since then, Lightwire have been upgrading individual stores from copper to fibre-based services, which has further enhanced the performance of the network.”

The result

With the new network in place, Beaurepaires were able to gain efficiencies, moving more systems and processes electronically, removing faxes, and generally improving store performance.

“Lightwire was up against the clock as they had to migrate to a new platform with the business ownership change,” explains David. “They successfully switched 52 retail outlets from the incumbent provider to Lightwire with no downtime,” says David. “We were blown away with how they performed!”
