At Lightwire, we know some rural environments can be a bit tricky. Luckily, we have a range of custom installation solutions to get you connected.

On-farm Extension (LAN)

Connect multiple locations on one property with a shared Lightwire internet connection.

Need to extend your internet connection to other locations on your property? A Lightwire On-farm Extension is the solution for you.
Connect a cowshed, the office, or a workshop to your existing plan and eliminate the need for a second connection.
The wireless connection includes one Wi-Fi-enabled router, located at the property connected directly to the Lightwire Rural tower. The other locations will have a single ethernet cable to plug directly into a computer or other device.

Coverage Extension (WAN)

Connect multiple properties with individual Lightwire internet connections.

If neighbouring facilities or properties don’t have a sufficient line of sight to a Lightwire tower, we’ll get you connected with our Coverage Extension.
A Coverage Extension will connect the workers’ house, granny flat, or workshop by extending your connection to their location and each location can have its own data plan and Wi-Fi router.
Have all the connections on one account or keep them separate – the choice is yours. Our local customer care team will help everyone get set up with their Lightwire rural broadband plans.

Solar Extension Site

Connect multiple properties from one Solar Extension site.

If none of your facilities have a line of sight to a Lightwire Full Site and you need to connect multiple locations on your property, the Solar Extension is the solution f or you.
You can connect your home, cowshed, and farmhand’s house to the Solar Extension, while keeping each property on its own data plan and Wi-Fi router.
Discrete, power-saving, and flexible, a Solar Extension site gives you flexibility in selecting the best location for line of sight with our towers. Once we’ve installed the Solar Extension site, you own and control it – and don’t worry, we’ll show you how to operate it!

AP Repeater (standard)

Connect to 15 properties from one AP Repeater site.

The AP Repeater is designed for use at sites intended to provide coverage to a small geographical area with very low population density. When built, these towers are no more than five metres tall and designed to support a single 200W solar panel. In some cases, where there’s a pre-existing building at the most desirable tower location (such as a workshop or barn), we have co-located onto the building rooftop. When you’re unable to connect directly to one of our Lightwire towers, our team can build a repeater tower for you and your neighbours!

The requirements:

• A high spot with good accessibility with a line of sight to one of our towers
• Help us get ten customers together and we’ll build it for free! Otherwise, you can split the $6000 cost among your neighbours.
• If we can get more than 15 customers connected to the repeater, we’ll upgrade it to a Full Site.

Full Site

Connect you and at least 15 neighbours to a Full Site.

The Full Site is designed for use at sites that will provide coverage to areas with a sufficient population density to require multiple access radio antennas and higher capacity backhaul links, or where the site can serve as a backhaul repeater site.
These sites are usually (but not always) built at high sites with wide views of the surrounding regions. In some cases, where there’s a pre-existing building at the most desirable tower location (such as a workshop or barn), we have co-located onto the building rooftop. These sites are designed in such a way that multiple solar and battery modules can be easily added to the site to provide sufficient power capacity and resilience.
If you’re not able to connect to one of our current towers, our team can build a Full Site for you and your community.

The requirements:

• At least 15 customers
• A great hill-top site easily accessed by a 4×4
• A line of sight to one of our current towers
