How to stay onside this season

Got a question about how you can stream sports with Lightwire?

We’ve put together a handy FAQ to help you stay ahead of the game this season.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I watch the sport online?

    1. Make sure you’re connected to Lightwire’s rural broadband.
    2. Subscribe to Spark Sport to get each game live and on-demand.
    3. Sit back, relax and get your fix of the Rugby World Cup 2019. You’ll be able to see 12 matches, including all of the All Blacks’ pool games and quarter finals on a one-hour delay, while tournament semi-finals and the final will screen live. All matches will be made available online using Spark Sport – both live and on-demand.
  • What device should I watch it on?

To simply stream, we recommend using your smartphone, tablet or computer. If you want to watch on your TV, you’ll need to connect your computer via HDMI cable, get Google Chromecast or a Smart TV that is supported by the Spark Sport service.
  • Will streaming use up all my data?

This is entirely dependent on how much streaming you do! But Spark has estimated each game, viewed at highest quality, will use about 6MB. Lower quality will use less data.
  • What if I run out of data mid-game?

Don’t worry, we won’t red card you for that. Your streaming will continue at the price of $1 per GB used outside of your plan. If you think you might need more for the season, upgrade your plan now.
  • Can you guarantee I’ll be able to watch every game?

We’ve got our Lightwire engineers in full training mode to get our service as game-fit as possible, but there may be some factors outside of our control. We recommend you do some testing prior to the season kick-off by signing up to Spark Sport ahead of time. Get in touch with our helpdesk if you have any concerns.
  • When should I sign up?

Make sure you sign up to a Spark Sport 7 day trial before the Rugby World Cup kicks off to ensure everything is working. Then test, test and test your streaming capability and speed before the games start. If you have any problems, the Lightwire Helpdesk is ready with all kinds of tricks to gain line.
